Video game publisher Majesco Entertainment Company has announced that it will be creating and publishing Zumba Fitness 2, a sequel to the current chart topping fitness and dancing game, aiming to launch the new title in time for the holiday shopping season of this year.

Development work on Zumba Fitness 2 will be handled by Zoe Mode and the primary platform for the game will be the Nintendo Wii home console, although Majesco says that other platform might get the game in the early days of 2012.

Zoe Mode is known for developing Chime and for working on the Sing Star series and on the Eye Toy powered games.

Zumba Fitness 2 is set to deliver 30 new music tracks for the player to work out too, although no actual list was yet provided, and there will be a “huge” variety of new dance moves to perform and new spaces in which to work out.

Tanya Beardsley and Gina Grant will be the instructors who guide the players through their routines.

Zumba Fitness 2 will deliver new game modes and a new tracker tool that allows a player to see how many calories he burned, how well he danced and what trophies he has managed to unlock.

The environments on offer will include yachts in Miami and nightclubs in Los Angeles.

Jesse Sutton, who is the chief executive officer at Majesco, has stated when the new game was announced that, “We’ve seen an overwhelming demand for the next iteration of the franchise and I can promise you that Zumba Fitness 2’s new and improved features will challenge Zumba enthusiasts and entice new followers to join the party.”

He added, “The Zumba Fitness franchise of video games connects the exhilarating Zumba dance workouts loved by millions with uniquely interactive console platforms that are accessible and fun for consumers of all ages.”
