It appears that ZTE understood the importance of having the latest software delivered on the older Android smartphone, as the Chinese handset manufacturer has just confirmed that its ZTE Blade device will be updated to Froyo by the end of the month.

According to the guys over at Android France, ZTE stated in an email responding to a ZTE Blade user that Android 2.2 Froyo will roll out in the last week of June.

For those who know French here is the mail confirming the Froyo update for ZTE Blade:

Bonjour Mr ******* Effectivement, une mise à jour en 2.2 est prévue et sera disponible très prochainement, à priori en S26 (dernière semaine de juin). D’autre part, la société ZTE vous remercie pour l’intérêt que vous portez à nos produits. Bien cordialement, Le département presse de ZTE

ZTE Blade was released in November 2010 with Android 2.1 Eclair on board. Given the fact that the Chinese handset manufacturer had a close business relationship with Orange, the phone was also launched via Orange under a different name, Orange San Francisco.

The device is an entry-level smartphone and it is powered by a low-performance Qualcomm MSM7227 processor clocked at 600 MHz speed, complemented by an Adreno 200 GPU.

ZTE Blade/Orange San Francisco comes with a medium-size 3.5-inch AMOLED or LCD capacitive touchscreen with 262K colors support and 480 x 800 pixels resolution.

In addition, the handset packs 150 MB of internal memory, 512 MB RAM, 512 MB ROM, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 2GB memory card included).

When it comes to connectivity, the phone does not disappoint and offers users a wide range of options such as: HSDPA (7.2 Mbps) and HSUPA (5.76 Mbps),Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity, Wi-Fi hotspot capability (only with Android 2.2) and GPS with A-GPS support.

The phone's 1250 mAh Li-Ion standard battery is rated by the manufacturer for up to 192 hours of standby time or up to 4 hours of talk time.
