Meaning that Sony and Microsoft are going to enjoy the spoils of war big time

A recent interview with Kai Huang from RedOctane shockingly reveals (not!) that the Wii version of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock will not feature online features at start. The only two ports supporting online play will of course be Sony's PlayStation 3 and Microsoft's Xbox 360. Bummer Wii dudes!

When asked by pro-g.co.uk whether lag has "been a major stumbling block" or not in developing the game, Kai Huang revealed the following: "We were very concerned about how going online and lag would affect the gameplay, but Neversoft who's the developer on the game has a significant amount of experience. They are one of the best developers in the world and they've had a lot of experience with online. The result is that we've managed to overcome all of those concerns we had at the beginning of the project, so there are no issues with lag and going online."

And now for the part Wii gamers hoped they'd never have to hear...:

"What systems will gamers be able to venture online with? Anything planned for the Wii?", asked Pro-G. Here's how RedOctane's Kai Huang shattered the hopes of Wii gamers, to be able to fret, strum, hit the drums and ultimately sing (with their voices) online with their friends: "There is online for the PS3 and Xbox 360. There won't be online initially for the Wii, but we are working with Nintendo to see how we can get those features in."

Of course, PS3 and Xbox 360 gamers will rub it in Wii gamers' faces until the poor users of Nintendo's machine end up hating the game. So I'd say "don't bother with the online features for the Wii port RedOctane..." Unless that is, they're planning on updating the port on the shortest of notice.

The Wii was sure to sell more units thanks to the game, but now, it looks like Sony and Microsoft are going to take some of the glory over to their trophy rooms.
