And the Wii Remote's internal speaker will 'squelch' when a note is missed

Wii owners always get a more childish version of every major game out there, not to mention poorer visuals (not much poorer though) and a simpler control scheme, but this time around, the Wii version of one of this year's most awaited games will literally "rock" on the Wii. Yes, we're talking about Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock and according to IGN's hands-on with the game, the wireless guitar (home of the Wiimote) adds rumble functionality.

Gamers will basically have to snap the controller into a compartment on the back of the wireless guitar (check out the picture to the left - click to enlarge) and close the compartment door tight. Don't get scared, even the mentally challenged can do it. As for the rumble feature, it can be turned on and off thanks to the Star Power button.

But here's something to get you really interested in the Wii version of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock: according to the mentioned source, the game will also support a Wi-Fi connection, although the game's developers failed to mention exactly what gamers will be using the respective connection for.

Naturally, all hopes are for online multiplayer but since neither of the companies involved with the game have said anything about this feature, as far as the Wii version is concerned, you'll just have to keep those fingers crossed really hard.

The hands-on experience has also revealed that the game makes good use of the Wii Remote's internal speaker. According to IGN, a "squelch" will come from the guitar when a note is missed.

Just a couple of days ago, Tom Morello, Rage Against the Machine's guitarist confirmed that he is going to be featured as one of the game's fierce bosses. However, even Morello found it difficult to beat some of the opponents Guitar Hero III presents players with: "Whenever I play Guitar Hero my opponent always kicks my ass on my own riffs," stated Morello. "It's embarrassing. Now that I'm actually in the game I hope the digital me will win once in a while!"

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock is being published by RedOctane and developed by Vicarious Visions and Neversoft. The game launches on PS2, PS3, Wii and Xbox 360, but they still have to announce a certain date for that.
