More and more touchscreen phones seem to emerge to the market, and perhaps many more will be spotted in the future, while they tend to converge at some point towards the same look, features and capabilities. At the same time, they could also be seen from the iPhone point of view, somehow “borrowing” something from its looks and functionality. And yet, they still surface to the market, while also having their own characteristic features that will at one point differentiate them from the mass.

Today, we learn that a new handset that features touchscreen capabilities has been unveiled to the world, and that it comes from a Chinese phone maker. The new device seems to be called the Xphone, is reported to come with the Android operating system, and has been developed by Yuhua. The company announced that their hardware reference design has been made available for manufacturers.

From a distance, the new mobile phone seems to resemble a lot the General Mobile DSTL1 handset that has been unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last week. Inside the new phone we are able to find a Marvell PXA-310 processor that runs at 624Mhz, along with 128MB SDRAM and 256MB internal ROM.

The new Xphone also features a microSD memory card slot that can offer users support for 16GB of external storage space. The phone is able to provide connectivity with 900/1800/1900MHz GPRS/EDGE bands, and also includes WiFi 802.11b/g and Bluetooth 2.0 capabilities.

The display of the phone is a 3-inch TFT screen that can provide a 240 x 400 resolution. The device comes with a 3-megapixel photo snapper that doesn't have flash. Other features of the phone include Video playback (H.264, streaming, 3GPP, MPEG4, Codec 3GP), Web and messaging capabilities (HTTP, WAP Push, xHTML, SMS, MMS), and a 1000mAh battery.

For the time being there are no details on how much the device will cost or on when it is expected to hit the market.
