Xvision's creation sports a similar 9.7-inch display as the Apple iPad

Xvision, a hardware maker that is better known to users living in Asia than to us Westerners, has just announced the an4 tablet powered by Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, which is expected to make its debut in Japan in April this year.

While at first glance the an4 doesn’t seem to differ much from other Asian slates, Xvision’s creation is somewhat of a novelty.

What makes it so special is the 9.7-inch screen used, since this has the same diagonal as the display installed by Apple in its iPad tablets.

Besides having the same display size as the original iPad, and the iPad 2, Xvision’s tablet also uses a similar 1024x768 resolution panel and 4:3 aspect ratio as its Apple competitor.

On the inside, however, things are a lot different as the an4 is based on a slower SoC than the one found in the iPad 2. This includes a single Cortex A9 core running at 1GHz, compared to the dual-core Cortex A9 design used by Apple for its tablet.

As Andronica has revealed, the SoC is paired together with 1GB high speed DDR3, all of these being installed inside a case that is 10mm (0.39 inches) thick.

Other features include WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, optional 3G and GPS, a 0.3 megapixel front-facing camera and 16GB of internal storage space.

The best part about Xvision’s creation, however, is that this will arrive with Android 4.0 pre-installed which should definitely help improve its usability for day to day tasks.

Sadly, no details about pricing have been provided with the tablet’s April release date. At this point in time, we also don’t know if Xvision has any plans to make the an4 available outside of Asia.
