This year, Japanese-Swedish mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson has announced the launch of a nice range of new mobile phones running under Google's Android operating system, including the Xperia neo, which has just received the necessary approvals from FC with support for AT&T's network. The mobile phone has already received the necessary approval from the Federal Communication Commission with European 3G connectivity on board, and has now made a second stop there.

The newly approved flavor of this device includes support for the UMTS II and UMTS V bands (1900MHz and 850MHz), which would make it fit for AT&T's network in the country.

The new device passed through FCC's hallways (via UnwiredView) with model number A3880101 attached to it, unlike the previously spotted Xperia neo at the Commission, which sported model number A3880100.

Moreover, the device could be easily used in Canada on the airwaves of three carriers in the country, namely Bell, Rogers, and Telus.

The handset was approved for use in the country, but this does not confirm the launch of this phone on AT&Ts' network in the United States.

However, given the fact that other Xperia handsets from the phone maker were already launched or announced for the US market, it would make sense for the Xperia neo to make an appearance on the local market in the not too far future.

When released, the handset would prove a quite appealing mid-level device, featuring a 3.7-inch FWVGA screen, and running under Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread mobile operating system (the latest flavor of the OS).

The handset would offer about all of the features that its new Xperia brothers include, but in a more affordable design, as unveiled during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.

Specific info on when would the device arrive in the United States did not emerge for the time being, nor on the price tag it might feature when released.
