Xperia neo is one of the latest smartphones that Sony Ericsson added to its Android lineup. The handset went official at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona a few days ago, and Softpedia editors present at the event had the chance to put hands on it and snap a few pictures for your viewing pleasure. The new device was spotted at large before even being made official, in a series of reviews that unveiled almost all of its capabilities.

The smartphone was built on the design language that Sony Ericsson already included in various other devices it already launched on the market, being ergonomically designed to fit in the palm of your hand.

On the front, it sports the Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine that can be found on Xperia arc too, on a capacitive touchscreen that measures 3.7 inches and boasts a 854 x 480 pixels (FWVGA) resolution.

The Xperia neo is powered by a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 application processor, which should go along pretty well with the Google Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) operating system the handset runs under.

With 320 MB of internal memory, the Xperia neo would offer users the possibility to enjoy up to 32 GB of additional storage space courtesy of a microSD memory card slot (an 8GB microSD included in the package).

On the back, the smartphone includes an 8.1-megapixel photo snapper with Auto focus, HD video recording (720p) capabilities, and LED flash (Sony’s Exmor R for mobile).

The hardware specs list of this device would also include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, DLNA, HDMI support, USB mass storage, 3.5 mm audio jack, or aGPS, as well as FM Radio.

Measuring 116.0 x 57.0 x 13.0 mm (4.6 x 2.2 x 0.5 inches) and weighing in at 126.0 grams (4.4 oz), the new smartphone should land in three color versions, including Blue Gradient, Red and Silver.
