Sony Ericsson's Xperia arc is expected to hit the shelves in most corners of the world in the next 3-4 weeks.  However, UK customers will be able to purchase the smartphone a bit earlier.

According to the guys over at Pocket-lint, who have been tipped by online retailer Mobiles.co.uk, customers will be able to order their Xperia arc devices starting March 21st.

Currently, the online retailer lists both silver and black color versions of the smartphone on Three, O2, Orange, T-Mobile and Vodafone carriers.

It looks like the best deals will be offered by Vodafone and Orange who provide the Xperia arc for free with a new two-year contract.

Sony Ericsson Xperia arc is the manufacturer's new flagship device and was debuted during 2011 CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas.

The device has made quite an impression at this year's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, even though it showed software problems, just like all the rest of the newly announced Sony Ericsson Android smartphones (Xperia Pro, Play and Neo).

The Xperia arc is a super-slim device, with a thickness of only 8.7 mm and weighing about 117g (battery included).

It comes with an astonishing 4.2-inch LED-backlit LCD capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors support and 480 x 854 pixels resolution, which is based on the manufacturer's Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine technology.

The phone is powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, complemented by an Adreno 205 GPU, and is operated by Android 2.3 Gingerbread mobile platform with Timescape UI.

Xperia arc is HSDPA and HSUPA enabled and packs 320 MB of internal memory, 512 MB RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 8 GB included).

As a reminder, O2, Vodafone UK and Three are the only carriers that confirmed the Xperia arc, but all three are expected to release it in April.
