Xfire, company owning messaging, matchmaking and gaming services signed a contract for providing software kits for the upcoming games console PS3.

Among other features, the new service that will be provided by Xfire for the PS3 platforms will allow the 5 million customers of Xfire to see when their friends are playing Xfire PS3 supported games. This feature will be similar to the one provided by Microsoft for Xbox Live.

The first game that will incorporate Xfire into its online component will be Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom, according to Xfire documentation. This is in contradiction with what stated Xfire representatives some time ago.

Xfire announced today that they reached an agreement with Sony to build a Software Development Kit to implement in the new PS3. This software kit will enable certain features, Xfire representatives mentioned. What they didn't mention is what features will the new PS3 software have. Maybe One-Click Join, File&Path Downloads, Xfire In-Game, Voice Chat, Server Browser Friend Tracker. Who knows? They left us all wondering.
