Too much free roaming for Microsoft's next-gen device...

We have quite a list of games that the PS3 can't handle, or better said that the titles' developers refuse to port to Sony's next-gen device. However, while the Xbox 360 seems more flexible in this aspect, it turns out that LA Noire is a victim of the console's incompatibility with its...size.

LA Noire is a Rockstar free-roaming title, probably a GTA clone and it will allow the gamer to experience the atmosphere of LA back in 1947. Much attention was paid to details and even the clothing of the characters matches the long-gone days of gangsters and alcohol contraband. You'll be playing an US Marine and according to the folks at Rockstar, the game will include side-missions which are re-creations of the real cases from the above-mentioned time period.

In other words, LA Noire can be considered an "interactive detective story", with a classic "noir" setting, defining the 1940s. You can check out the trailer below for more details and you'll find yourself transported to the world of crime thrillers, while plunging into a dark atmosphere. Rockstar works with Team Bondi, the Australian developer of the game, hoping to be able to deliver a non-GTA-copycat and a blockbuster, on an yet unknown platform.

I'm betting on the PS3 right now to host such jazz-flavored criminal activities. Picture this as the noir version of Mafia, or at least that's what it seems to me. In the meantime, I must say that I'm surprised to see Sony's gaming device "stealing" the title from Microsoft's Xbox 360...if the rumors are true. Well, it can be called "returning the favor", since Metal Gear Solid 4 appears to have departed from the Sony universe and now it has jumped straight into the 360 bandwagon.
