Multiplayer delight soon on Xbox Live

Looks like Microsoft are trying to resuscitate the best multiplayer game ever, Worms (thumbs up). Word on the web is that the classic 2D game will come soon on Xbox Live, as 1up.com shares the information.

The Xbox Live Arcade launch of Worms makes a lot of sense, as the 1up editors point out, because the retail distribution of the game will cost a lot of cash and probably Worms won't be a huge hit. But still, I bet a lot of gamers will download it just for reminiscing.

In fact, plans for announcement will be discussed with Microsoft next week, so keep you fingers crossed and hope that Worms will make it in this year's release window. Development on the Xbox 360 version of Worms is almost complete, but Team 17 still have to get some final bugs out of the game, according to some forum posts.

The first Worms game ever was released back in 1994, but the 2D variants didn't come until 1997. The most recent installment in the Worms series is Worms 4: Mayhem, but if you ask me, the game has lost its charm over the years.

1up.com advises not to get our hopes up for the Xbox version of Worms, as Microsoft already hinted what the release schedule will look like, and Worms was not on the list. But there is still hope!
