Mindless fun for the PlayStation 3

Recently, games have been considered somewhat of a very serious hobby and a lot of players have forgotten that, in the first place, games should entertain us with pure, mindless fun. That was the case with the Worms series of titles, which introduced us to a variety of tiny worms that packed a huge arsenal of conventional and, most importantly, unconventional weapons.

After the Xbox Live Arcade received its own Worms remake, 25 moths ago, it seems that PlayStation 3 users will also get a dose of mindless fun while blasting away at each other with the help of the animated worms and their huge arsenal of weapons.

The game, which now supports 1080p high-definition resolution and four additional weapons, including the extremely popular Holy Hand Grenade, Super Sheep and Concrete Donkey, is now available for North American users at the price of 12.99 dollars, and will appear for European users during Easter, at just 7.99 pounds sterling or 9.99 Euros, meaning that at least Team17 understood the pricing differences and exchange rates between various currencies.

Worms for the PSN will also feature additional landscapes created in the same retro spirit, a wide array of team voices and taunts, which will certainly generate a lot of laughs, and new graphic features and effects. Also, the physics engine has received a revamp, and it will offer more precise results from all of the weapons. It will be playable both online and offline by 1 to 4 players and, in the words of Team17, it “provides countless hours of laugh out loud entertainment.”

All in all, it seems that Worms for the PSN will become very successful, as the XBLA version has received a lot of awards, including Casual Game of the Year and Most Played Game. Also, the fact that it is still in the top 5 sales charts makes the Team17 crew very excited about this release.
