World of Warcraft is getting ready for its third expansion, Cataclysm, and Blizzard has launched one of the final patches, 4.0.3a, before the release of the much awaited add-on.

The new patch will transform the virtual realm of Azeroth in preparation for the add-on, which will add a wide array of features and new content for players of the hugely popular title.

Patch 4.0.3a will completely redesign areas like the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor, not to mention popular areas like the Barrens or Orgrimmar, changing them from their regular appearance to a more destroyed one, which, as you could see in the cinematic intro released a few weeks, was caused by the awakening of the monstrous Deathwing.

The patch is being deployed as we speak by Blizzard in realms and servers across the USA, as well as in Europe.

Blizzard already released several patches before this new one, most importantly 4.0.1,which improved certain aspects of the game, including crafting, forging or the glyph system, not to mention the fact that it overhauled the leveling for many of the game's main classes, including Death Knights, Druids, Hunters, Paladins, Warlocks or Warriors.

This is all in preparation of the newest World of Warcraft expansion, Cataclysm, which will be released worldwide on December 7, in a vast array of global midnight launches.

Cataclysm will completely change the realm of Azeroth, introduce new classes like the Worgen or Goblin, new dungeons, levels, bosses, including the monster dragon Deathwing, and, most importantly, raise the level cap from 80 to 85.

Blizzard is pulling out all the stops in order to ensure that all of the 12 million paying subscribers will purchase the new expansion and enjoy the new content.

Stay tuned for more news concerning World of Warcraft Cataclysm as we approach its release date next month.
