Video game developer Blizzard has announced that it has introduced a new Item Restoration Service for its MMO World of Warcraft, allowing gamers to get back those prized items that they accidentally delete from their inventory, sell or modify in ways that they later come to regret.

The official announcement from Blizzard reads: “With this new self-service option the recovery of an item or items that were recently deleted or sold to a vendor can be restored to a character immediately when using the ticket submission system on our support site.

“For any items that were accidentally disenchanted the same method can be used to request a review by Customer Support for restoration.”

Blizzard says that those who use the item restoration service can do so once every 30 days and they need to have an account that is “in good standing.”

The developer also makes it clear that players still need to be careful about how they handle their own items and that it will swiftly move to shut down any sort of abuse of the item restoration service.

Until now, players who did lose an item, or modified it and regretted their choices, had to place a request with the support service for World of Warcraft, which took time and sometimes failed to deliver a satisfactory response.

The fact that the item restoration service has been launched means that regular Customer Service will no longer be in charge of assisting the player base with problems linked to their items.

At the moment Blizzard is working on yet another expansion for World of Warcraft, called Mists of Pandaria, which introduces a whole new race, a new class and a new continent for gamers to explore.

Until then the company is making sure that World of Warcraft remains attractive to its 10 million plus player base by simplifying the way gamers interact with the title.
