A few days ago, Automattic announced officially the release of a Symbian version of their WordPress application, which was already made available for download on Nokia devices via the Ovi Store. However, that software solution lacked support for newer Nokia smartphones, which run under the Symbian^3 platform, something fixed with the availability of a new flavor of the app.

The WordPress for Nokia application is available for free on the Finnish handset vendor's Symbian^3-based devices, such as Nokia N8 or Nokia C7, and even Nokia C6-01, which started shipping today.

Through this application, WordPress bloggers that have Nokia devices should be able to publish and manage their blogs straight from their handsets.

It's a known fact that WordPress is an open source blog package, which offers users all the necessary tools they need to come up with written pieces that can be posted online.

With the new application, users would be able to do so even when on a Nokia device that runs under the new Symbian^3 platform.

“The publishing interface is similar to what you'd find at the traditional web interface including the ability to add photos and GPS location tags to your posts. And on the admin side you can review new comments and monitor your blog statistics wherever you are,” a recent post on Nokia Beta Las notes.

WordPress for Nokia (Symbian^3) was written in Qt, and is said to offer impressive performance levels.

Head of the project Anssi Mäkelä said, “First we made a clear decision to cover most of the current and upcoming platforms, so it was pretty obvious that to meet this demand Qt was the only way to go.”

“This app is extraordinary when it comes to performance, especially on latest Symbian^3 devices its unbelievably fast and responsive to your commands.”

WordPress for Nokia is available for download from the Ovi Store here. The Symbian^3 version of the application can be downloaded from here.
