What a shock!

A recent survey revealed that women are better multi-taskers than men when using their mobile phones. This proves their capability of doing other activities when on the phone, as well as using various handset functions at the same time.

For some reason, Nokia was interested if women are indeed more capable of doing more activities at the same time, with one of them being that of mobile phone use. Results showed the common belief that women can handle multiple actions better than men, although most people consider themselves to be multi-taskers. Still, half of them said that the call stands as the main focus for them.

Mobile phones might even be related to increased productivity, as they get people used to doing multiple actions at the same time. Sixty-two percent of respondents do two or three activities while talking on their mobile phone. Among the most common ones are internet browsing and shopping, while three quarters of women also added food preparing and putting on makeup to the list.

"With all the features available on mobile phones today, including calendars, email, and text messaging, people are using them for more than just making calls. This helps some people be more productive for work and others run the family household more smoothly. Whatever the case, though, mobile phones are clearly helping people get what they want out of life", said Dom Fried-Booth, Insights Director, Devices, at Nokia.

The survey was conducted online through nokia.com between October 15 and November 1, this year, by Illuminas. Respondents lived in the United Kingdom, Spain, Finland, Italy, China, Brazil, Germany, Denmark, France, USA, Sweden and Norway. Nokia looked to see just how mobile phones influence people's lives as they tend to evolve and pack a continuously larger number of evolved functions.
