It took only 25 days to add 10,000 apps (400 new apps per day)

Windows Phone Marketplace, Microsoft’s application store has just passed 60,000 published apps. We reported last month that the portal exceeded 50,000 submitted apps, but we did not expect that the Windows Phone Marketplace would pass the 60,000 milestone so fast.

The folks over at AllAboutWindowsPhone, an independent site that managed to build an application tracking tool, claim that the Windows Phone Marketplace has reached this number in less than a month.

According to them, after the marketplace passed the 50,000 mark last month, the number of apps submitted per day has increased to an average of 400.

Ultimately, it took only 25 days to make the jump from 50,000 to 60,000, which is quite an achievement from an app store that simply does not have the market share of Google’s Android platform or Apple’s iOS operating system.

Even though analysts predict that Windows Phone OS will get a share of at least 6% by the end of 2012, it is hard to believe anyone who predicts that Windows Phone Marketplace will get closer to Android Market within the next few years.

Keep in mind that the numbers provided by AllAboutWindowsPhone are simply referring to the number of the apps submitted effectively and it does not take into consideration the quality of the added apps.

Other provided statistics include interesting facts and numbers achieved by the Windows Phone Marketplace last year. It appears that the app store needed about 40 days to reach from 40,000 to 50,000 apps.

In addition, it is also worth mentioning that in the last 30 days more than 11,000 apps were added. Of these, around 3,300 apps were submitted during the week beginning January 8.

At this rate, we might see the Windows Phone Marketplace reach the 100,000 apps milestone within the next few months.
