Facebook launched its Modern client for Windows 8.1 yesterday

Facebook has officially launched the official Modern client for Windows 8.1 yesterday, which finally makes it possible for adopters of the operating system to chat with friends and manage their social account without even leaving the Metro UI.

The problem with the Facebook app is that it still lacks a number of features and the account settings screen, for example, launches the browser and takes you to the official website of the service. While some people like it, other users aren’t really pleased with this program and it’s easy to see why.

Here are some of the comments posted in the Windows Store on the Facebook app page in the last 24 hours:

“Good for touch screens, not for mouse use.”

“For a social app, it doesn’t have a share charm. And no live tile either.”

“Good app, but keep updating. It needs more features.”

“Good, except for the Facebook part. Solid app, but it suffers from what has been Facebook’s main problem for a long time now – the news feed’s default setting is not in chronological order. There’s an option for ‘most recent’, but it doesn’t reorganize the entire news feed into the proper order, it only shows the latest few things.”

“There are some bugs, when I open a video, closing it becomes very hard.”

“For something that took so long, not that impressed. You can’t change your cover or profile pictures (at least not with a mouse, haven’t tried touch), you can’t edit a comment, you still need a web browser. I mean come on, you can edit comments on an Android phone now.”

As you probably know by now, the Facebook app is exclusively available on Windows 8.1, so it won’t show up in the Windows 8 Store. It offers support for both Windows 8 and Windows RT devices and comes completely free of charge regardless of the version you are running.
