Who says that Wii is a friendly console...?

This was bound to happen! People are already taking part in the world-famous competition called Wiimbledon that's going down in Brooklyn, New York. The Wii Tennis tournament will start at the end of June, featuring a singles and a doubles competition. However, tennis is not the only sport that people play socially and organize, as we found out today via 4ColorRebellion.com. There are also a couple of Fight-Club like competitions, where gamers enjoy some underground Wii Boxing.

There's no Brad Pitt involved, but the secrecy is just as high as in the famous movie, because the fighters meet in unknown locations for such tournaments. Will such Wii Boxing organizations take over the world? The popularity of Nintendo's console keeps growing and reaching to the limits of the target public, so we even see senior citizens battling it out in Wii Sports, or grown up men getting frustrated over The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. I guess that there was never a console to have such a high social impact, like Nintendo's Wii and that may be the start of a phenomenon that will last dozens of years. Who knows, this might even be the next type of Gym class, a virtual tennis session on Wii 5, 10 years from now.

I still can't get over the fact that people are actually meeting in their secret hideouts for some Wii Boxing action, although this is the century of online gaming. The fun appears when you see your opponent's facial expression as he gets frustrated by the fact that you're winning and he's going KO to the floor. This can truly be called "gaming entertainment" and the only problem seems to be the Wii addiction and the fact that some people take Wii-based competition too seriously. It's just a matter of time till we see broken bones and fatal beatings caused by some tennis team losing matches....
