Nintendo is again dominating both the hardware and the software charts in Japan, with the main culprit being Wii Sports Resort, the new Wii game that is bundled, at a reduced price, with the Wii Motion Plus add on.

The best selling game console is, for what seems like an eternity, the Nintendo DSi, which has managed to ship almost 40,000 units to gamers. The DS Lite version of the same console, which is now considered obsolete, has also managed to sell a bit over 5,000 units as stock as being sold off. The PlayStation Portable has taken second place with 26,789 units moved in the same period.

Sony must be a bit worried as the Nintendo Wii, which remains the best sold home gaming console, has increased its numbers by about 2,000, to reach 21,790 and might, depending on the strength of videogame releases, overtake the PSP to reach second spot. The PlayStation 3 only managed to sell about half of the numbers of the Wii, at 11,310, while the Xbox 360 managed about half of the PS3 sales, with 5,766. The PlayStation 2 continues to be last as it only managed to sell about 3,500 units.

When it comes to the videogame chart, Wii Sports Resort confirmed its release numbers by taking the first spot with 359,690 copies as gamers hurried to snap up the Wii Motion Plus add on and try some games that make good use of it.

Tomodachi Collection also created by Nintendo is a distant second in the chart, with sales of 71,692, while third spot went to Atelier Rorona: Alchemist of Arland from Gust with 43,243 units moved to players. Ken to Mahou to Gakuen Mono. 2 is in fourth spot with 38,614 copies sold, being followed by BlazBlue from Arc System Works.
