Even he says that the Wii is simple, but in a good way

While most game developers and publishers feel that the Wii lacks horsepower and that sometimes it makes games way too simple to even be attractive, some actually consider its simplicity a plus and even praise it for being almost equally good with Microsoft's original Xbox console. One of those people is FIFA producer Tim Tschirner.

He is absolutely sure that the Wii matches up to the first Xbox in terms of power, as GameIndustry.biz reports. Tschirner's comments came in an exclusive interview with sister site, Eurogamer.net, where he is quoted as saying that "It's about as powerful as the original Xbox. The video hardware unfortunately is not as powerful. There's just a couple of key things that you can do on Xbox like shaders which you just cannot do on the Wii... Overall though it's pretty much what the original Xbox was."

One thing however is very true (not that everything posted above wasn't): that the Wii is "very straightforward to write code for," said Tschirner, adding, "I think from a creative point of view it's been awesome working on this platform because there's obviously stuff we couldn't do before."

I'm sure that if games and control scheme are simple with the Wii, development can't be much of a bitch either. But he goes on praising Nintendo for broadening the market making even people who don't normally play games love the Wii. Need I tell you why? I shouldn't say this, otherwise people will say that I have a fixation with criticizing the Wii, but it's just because IT'S SIMPLE! There I've said it, we can move on now.

"That's a bit of a philosophy that we wanted to get into this game as well - that people don't have to be afraid of finding the control scheme overwhelming or overly demanding," Tschirner explained, confirming what I've just written in caps above. "And then on the flip-side, we wanted to make sure that long-term FIFA players would find everything they love in the game still in place."

That's it, I'm shutting up now as I don't want to look like such a Wii hater, but I'm just going ask one more thing: how exactly are Wii gamers going to play FIFA at optimal efficiency using Wiimotes? Or is FIFA suddenly becoming a "fun."
