As we reported earlier, Samsung has already confirmed that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet will be available for purchase in Canada some time in July.

Although the handset manufacturer didn't make any comments regarding the tablets exact release date, it appears that the Wi-Fi Galaxy Tab 10.1 is now available for pre-orders via Best Buy and Future Shop retailers.

Furthermore, both authorized sellers confirm that the tablet will be available in their stocks starting July 22nd: “This product is scheduled to arrive in our warehouse on 07/22/2011.”

Android fans can pre-order the Samsung 16GB Galaxy Tab 10.1 with Wi-Fi from either of the two retail locations for $499.99.

Best Buy describes the new tablet as “not only is it the thinnest and lightest large screen mobile tablet, it is also the most full-featured boasting fast connectivity, full multimedia entertainment, customized user interface, as well as a full portfolio of accessories to enhance your tablet experience.”

Even though Samsung originally stated that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be delivered with Android 3.1 Honeycomb at launch, it appears that Best Buy lists the device as operating Android 3.0 instead.

This is either a mistake from the major retailer or users will be able to upgrade the software OTA (over-the-air) or via an update after they purchase the product.

Other specifications of the tablet seem to be in order, such as the dual-core 1GHz ARM Cortex-A9 NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor (ULP GeForce GPU) that powers the device and the 3.0-megapixel main camera.

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 measures 256.6 x 172.9 x 8.6 mm and is one of the lightest tablets available on the market at only 595g (battery included).

On related news, the 3G version of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is expected to be launched in Canada in August by various major carriers, including Rogers, Bell and Telus.
