14 DAY TRIAL // It looks like LG did the unthinkable and released a white flavor version of its premium Optimus Black smartphone.
Unveiled several weeks ago, LG Optimus Black White Edition is now available for purchase from local retailer Flipkart for Rs. 19,599 (about $425).
According to AndroidOS.in, the smartphone is not available at all Flipkart stores, so it's probably better to order it online.
Those who are willing to pay the phone's price should know that the retailer promises to deliver the handset in 6 business days.
Aside from its white case, the new flavor of the Optimus Black does not come up with anything new in terms of hardware or design.
The Optimus Black features a sleek, minimalistic chassis. The phone weighs 109 g and is only 9.2 mm thick, which makes it one of the slimmest mid-high end Android phones available on the market.
The phone comes with a 4-inch IPS LCD capacitive multi-touch screen display, an accelerometer for auto UI orientation, a proximity sensor for auto turn-off and an ambient light sensor for auto brightness adjust.
The phone is powered by Google's Android 2.2 (Froyo) platform with Optimus 2.0 and Gesture 2.0 user interfaces.
With the Gesture 2.0 UI users will be able to control the phone with various preset motion gestures, as soon as they press a dedicated G button.
It appears that the special button uses the phone's accelerometer to translate the gestures and allows various functions like panning around a web page, changing homescreens or accepting calls without unlocking the screen.
Furthermore, the smartphone is equipped with a 1 GHz TI OMAP 3630 processor, complemented by a PowerVR SGX530 GPU for handling graphic intensive apps.
According to the manufacturer, the 1500mAh battery should provide users with up to 16 hours of talk time or 455 hours of standby time.
LG Optimus Black White Edition packs 2 GB of internal memory, 512 MB of RAM and supports up to 32 GB microSD cards.
