Where did it come from? What are its origins? If you're a fan, you know the answers already

If a person is a true fan of a respective video game, that person will most certainly know a lot of things about it before it's even released, right? That's what GamePlasma.com and 2K Games thought when they came up with the idea of giving away The Darkness for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 along with a Comic Book, to those who can answer the following questions:

"What is the Darkness? Where did it come from? What are its origins? What are the limitations of the powers of the Darkness, if any?" an official report posts. In order to win a copy of "The Darkness" and a comic book by Top Cow Productions in this Fan Fiction Contest, fans (and there are lots of them) must submit a short story telling their idea of the origins of the Darkness.

GamePlasma and 2K Games will analyze those stories and whoever has the most accurate point of view, wins. Simple huh? Not quite, there is an enormous possibility of answers to the first question: "What is The Darkness?" Are we talking genre, scientific definition or what...? Fans will know the answer, I'm sure.

Anyway, you probably want to know what you can win, right? Well, if what you wrote proves to be accurate, then you'll win a free copy of the game released today, on your choice of Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 formats, along with a comic book.

As the official report says, the contest will be running until July 2nd, 2007 and the winners will be announced at this site on July 6th. The five best short stories chosen by a panel of editors at GamePlasma will be selected and each winner will receive "The Darkness" video game in addition to "The Darkness: Level 0" comic book. One of those five winners will have the opportunity for their short story to be published on GamePlasma.com.
