The attacker appears to be a fan of Cardiff City

The official website of Swansea City, a professional football club based in Swansea, South Wales, has been allegedly hacked.

Screenshots making the rounds on social media sites show that the “fans” section of the English Premier League team’s website was defaced on Tuesday. The hackers didn't change the page completely. Instead, they replaced certain pieces of text with their own.

For instance, in the Q&A section they wrote, “Why are we a smaller club than Cardiff?” In the “fans pictures” section they said, “Take a look at the great pictures of you inbred bastards.”

The attack comes just before Swansea's match against Cardiff City, which indicates that the attackers are Cardiff fans.

At the time of writing, the website appears to be working properly. Swansea City football club representatives haven’t issued any statement regarding the incident.

In September, the official Twitter account of the Walsall Football Club was hacked just after they had won a game against the Wolves.

Update. Some people report that the screenshots of the hacked Swansea City website are actually fabricated.
