Yesterday, October 7, AT&T, the largest mobile operator in the US, and AccuWeather.com announced the launch of Weather On Demand. This feature will allow AT&T U-verse TV users access to all the weather information they need, in any city they need it, at any time of day or night, easy and fast.

For the time being, Weather On Demand is available for free only for the U-verse TV customers in Atlanta, Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, Indianapolis and San Diego. The mobile carrier AT&T plans to make this feature available for all U-verse TV users in 2009.

Speaking about the launch of the new feature, G.W. Shaw, AT&T executive director of U-verse marketing said, "Weather On Demand is another great example of the benefits of U-verse TV and our Internet Protocol (IP) platform. We're making it easy for customers to check weather conditions and forecasts in their hometown or across the country, whenever they want. We know that AccuWeather.com's content will be a great resource for our U-verse TV customers who want up-to-date and accurate weather information."

"We're proud to deliver on-demand weather information to U-verse TV customers. This is a great opportunity to bring users of this new digital platform the same weather that has served viewers so well on traditional television, " said Jim Candor, senior vice president of New Media for AccuWeather.com.

AT&T U-verse TV customers will be able to access the new feature by tuning to Channel 227. There, they will view weather information for all the cities in the country, but also on the local weather conditions (including high/low temperatures, humidity, wind, visibility and barometric pressure). National and local forecasts, either locally or in six-day outlooks, will also be offered to them. Other features include access to animated local and national radar imagery and satellite views, the possibility to watch videos of meteorologists presenting the local weather updates, and search and select cities by name, ZIP or by using the US map.
