Release date set for October 17

Yesterday, September 30, AT&T announced that iPhone 3G would be launched in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands on October 17. The iPhone 3G will bring users here all the revolutionary features of the iPhone, plus the advantages of 3G – networking twice as fast, built-in GPS and the iPhone 2.0 software that includes Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync support, and runs literally thousands of third-party applications that are available through the App Store.

Getting to learn more about the their new iPhone 3G will be a piece of cake for users, since AT&T's website now includes a dedicated page for iPhone, where they will find information on their upgrade eligibility, as well as tips and frequently asked questions. This will enable them to be well informed on this product newly introduced on the market, and decide more easily on what model to choose, if they consider becoming iPhone3G users.

"iPhone will arrive for AT&T customers in Puerto Rico on October 17," said Jose Juan Davila, vice president and general manager of AT&T's wireless operations in Puerto Rico, in a press release made available on the company's website. "AT&T is committed to offering the most innovative products and services to our customers, and we are pleased to be part of this great milestone in our market."

We were also able to find out the prices for the iPhones. If you are a new customer and sign a two-year contract, the iPhone 3G will cost you either US$199 for the 8GB model, or US$299 for the 16GB one.
