I first introduced you to Humphrey the polar bear in late 2013, when it looked less like a fierce predator and more like a ball of fur in desperate need of care, love, and attention.

As it turns out, Humphrey has put on quite a lot of weight over these past few months, and has also grown considerably taller than it used to be during his first few weeks of life.

The video below has been released by folks at Toronto Zoo, where the polar bear was born about 9 months ago, this past August 1. The footage shows Humphrey exploring the outdoor habitat at this facility.

It's not hard to notice that, despite being simply fascinated with the pool inside this habitat, the young polar bear is not yet confident enough to go for a swim. Still, chances are that it will soon dive head-first in the pool.

“This clip shows Humphrey's first introduction to this area, while the adult polar bears occupied another separated area of the habitat,” staff at Toronto Zoo writes in the video's description on YouTube.

Furthermore, “While Humphrey has yet to take the full plunge into the big pool, he playfully tested the waters in the shallow end and was particularly fond of the water jets!”
