Not so long ago, we told the story of a photographer who took portraits of insects in an attempt to help people overcome their uncontrollable fear of these creatures.

While the insects thus photographed were pretty harmless, Michael Sutton has taken art to a whole new level that blends a lot of danger into the creative work.

Sutton spent a few hours with a hive of honey bees in Hillside Apiaries in New Hampshire and in the process got stung three times.

However, the result was a beautiful slow-mo footage of honey bees batting their wings around their busy hive. The video reveals so much stunning details, and you can actually see a bee slowing down and the way it beats its wings in mid-air.

Bees are an important component of our ecosystem not only because their produce their wonderful, healing honey, but because they help pollinate plants and crops.

The creator of this stunning video invites you to look at these little creatures in a new way that will certainly make you appreciate the work put into making the delicious honey waiting for you in your kitchen.

Watching the video, you can’t help but feel amazed at the intricate mechanisms Mother Nature has come up with to sustain life in a species. For example, the wings looks so tiny but they are able to support the bee’s body while in flight.
