Most people I know are severely crept out by insects. But Donald Jusa isn't just like anybody you'll ever meet.

For some reason, Jusa has developed a unique appreciations of insects. For him, these creatures aren't an annoying pest that needs to get squashed. But his photographic works aim to change this perception by showing us insects can be perceived as unique specimens and even portrait subjects.

“My aim is to show the unique and diverse characters of these insects, like taking portraits of people. That way others can see them and not always be afraid of them.”

His pictures are quite surreal showing a great amount of detail of the insect body/head. However, I wouldn't go as far as to say these photographs will cure you of the insect fear, but might actually have the reverse effect, as you browse through this gallery of these alien-looking figures.

Jusa has been working as a geologist in a coal mining company in East Kalimantan, Indonesia, where he managed to collect and photograph the insects living in the forest, as well as in his workplace.

So, if insects don’t make you woozy, you can check out the gallery below. The images will certainly amaze you, even if you’re not probably going to adopt any of such creatures any time soon.

For the whole gallery, check out Donald Jusa.
