Director Jon M. Chu and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura explain the lengthy process

“G.I. Joe: Retaliation” was initially supposed to come out in June last year, so you can imagine the fans’ surprise when they heard it was getting pushed back by no less than 9 months to go through 3D post-conversion.

As producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura explains in the new featurette embedded below, there was a time when post-conversion to 3D was synonymous to bad 3D, but those days are gone: the technology available today really allows artists to create superb 3D without shooting in 3D.

Both Bonaventura and director Jon M. Chu promise just that with “Retaliation,” which drops in theaters today, Friday, March 29.

In the featurette, they explain how space was manipulated to create the most immersive experience possible, and how every subtle change done to a single frame echoes throughout the film both in video and audio.
