Odds are this video will make you pause and wonder why dolphin hunts are still carried out

This past March 17, green group Sea Shepherd released this video that I dare say will make you take a break from your daily routine and wonder why it is exactly that dolphin hunts are still carried out on an annual basis in Taiji, Japan.

The video is the creation of a 17-year-old girl by the name Megan Rose Taylor, who entered it into the organization's “Cove to Captivity” video contest.

On its website, Sea Shepherd writes that, due to some technicalities, the video failed to win the competition. The conservationists nonetheless stress that Megan's work is well worth watching.

Granted, some of the footage included in it is fairly graphic and might upset certain people.

Still, the words accompanying the video are more than enough to get the message across, and those that cannot bear to watch dolphins being separated from their pods, and killed or taken captive can settle for just listening to what Megan Rose Taylor has to say.

“Thank you, Megan! We adore your video, your thoughtful poem, and your gentle heart. For the dolphins,” Sea Shepherd says.

The winners of the “Cove to Captivity” video contest are expected to be announced in the hours to come, so stay tuned for more news.
