Mythic Entertainment, the creator of Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, published by Electronic Arts, has announced that it plans to offer a 10-day trial period for its game, designed to allow all those interested in the setting and in the mechanics of the MMO to experience all the excitement that can be offered by the Realm vs. Realm battles, those pitting Order against Destruction in truly epic engagements.

The 10-day trial is available for all those interested on the official site of Warhammer Online. Mythic has just released patch 1.2 for the MMO and launched the Bitter Rivals event, which is intended to show off the two new classes that would be added to the game, the Orc Choppa and the orange-haired Dwarf Slayer.

The problem that Warhammer Online seems to be facing at the moment is that less and less new players are getting into the MMO. Most of those who got the game on launch, which was back in 2008, are now high level players in dire need of both new content and characters for the lower levels.

The launch of Bitter Rivals, which is the beginning of a live expansion, and the 10-day trial period are efforts to show potential subscribers what the videogame has to offer and to determine them to pay up for a long term subscription.

When it was initially launched, Warhammer Online was seen as the MMO that could challenge the Blizzard-developed World of Warcraft and maintain a long term significant player base. But after the release of Wrath of the Lich King, the third expansion to the Blizzard MMO, quite a few Warhammer Online players left the game and did not return.
