To improve the quality of the game experience

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning is undergoing some major changes just as the release deadline looms nearer. It's worth noting that the MMO has already seen significant delays, needed to add all the content the developers wanted in.

Now, part of the content that was announced for the game is getting cut, as the developers at Mythic are focusing on quality rather than quantity. First off, the number of capitals which will be featured in the game is being reduced. Originally, six capitals were to be featured, one for each of the races but, with the recent modifications, only two will be implemented, one for each faction.

Four of the 24 careers the games was set to offer are also being scrapped or reserved for future expansions. You are out of luck if you wanted to play as a Choppa, which is an Orc berserker, a Hammerer, which is a Dwarven berserker, a Black Guard or a Knight of the Blazing Sun.

Mark Jacobs said: "This isn't something that I can say that it is really a good thing for the player. I can say that we are doing this for quality, absolutely... We looked at them and we said these careers are just not great - and we tried, and they weren't coming out well."

It also seems that the studio has decided to revert to the name Mythic Entertainment, which is the one it used when it released Dark Age of Camelot. Recently, the company has been known as EA Mythic, to signify that Electronic Arts owns the developer. Regarding this, Mark Jacobs, the head of Mythic, stated: "I've always been a believer of separate branding. I think that this is a wonderful example of how things at EA are changing. Both John and Frank have spoken multiple times about city states, more freedom, that sort of thing, and I think this is an obvious example."

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning is set to be released later in the year for the PC.
