New content, new rewards

Mythic Entertainment, the developer of Warhammer Online, is announcing a variety of events and fresh content meant to mark the one-year anniversary of its MMO. The celebrations are set to begin on September 1 and will try to get new players into the MMO that launched with some innovative features, like public quests and a Player versus Player orientation, 12 months ago.

Jeff Hickman, who is an executive producer of Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, declared that “This anniversary marks a major milestone for WAR, the Mythic development team and our fantastic community of players. We could think of no better way of marking this occasion than by celebrating our success with our fans for the entire month of September. We've got new content to share with the Wild Hunt live event, special versions of popular Scenarios, and a 20% Experience and Renown bonus, plus, players can get special rare drops, veteran rewards, fireworks, Halfling Pies, and exploding stout!”

Mythic is doing a smart thing by stretching the special events over the course of an entire month. This allows those who might have left the game to return and take a look at what's new while also allowing those who hung around to get some pretty interesting rewards over time. Special versions of the Mourkain Temple will be online between September 11 and 14, Gates of Ekrund between 18 and 21, and Temple of Isha between 25 and 28.

All those who have played the game for an entire year will get the WAR Aegis, while all registered gamers will receive Halfling Pies and Jubilee Cloaks. All this is part of a renewed effort aimed at both retaining all the players who are actually engaged in the MMO, while also attracting back those who have left it. After a very successful launch, the MMO has seen player numbers go down.
