The Call to Arms expansion for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning is complete with the Land of the Dead dungeon zone now open to all players of the MMO. The desert area of Nehekhara is home to dangerous enemies, most of the them straddling the space between life and death.

There are new Public Quests that can be joined, a lot of instanced lairs and the fabled Casket of Souls to be found for the glory of the faction the players belong to. The Land of the Dead is also home to a new Players versus Player zone where Order and Chaos can take each other on.

Jeff Hickman, who is an executive producer for Mythic Entertainment, declared that “As the Call to Arms live expansion neared its end, we were excited to watch the heroic conflict between the Armies of Order and Destruction play out in the ‘Rise of the Tomb Kings’ live event. The Armies may have won that battle, but the war continues to rage. The real struggle for control over the ‘The Land of the Dead’ has only begun. Players on both sides are in for the fight of their lives as they attempt to unlock the secrets of the Tomb Kings for the glory of their Realm.”   Warhammer Online: Age or Reckoning was hailed as being the biggest challenge to the MMO domination of World of Warcraft because of the strong mechanics, the Player versus Player focus, and the Public Quests that could be quickly joined and developed in stages. Initially, the game did very well at retail but the number of players did not rise anywhere new the World of Warcraft levels.

The player base has stabilized and Mythic adopted a strategy of eschewing new retail packages so that it could concentrate on delivering new content via digital distribution, as witnessed in the live expansion just completed.
