WIND Mobile, the latest wireless carrier in Canada, announced yesterday the launch of its services in Ottawa, the fourth city in the country to benefit from its offering. According to the company, it aims to prove that it is a real, national alternative for Canadians who are looking for contract-free, high-value, truly unlimited plans.

“Today we have brought real wireless choice to the people of Ottawa!” said Anthony Lacavera, Chairman of Globalive and WIND Mobile. “We have listened to Canadians about what’s important to them and are excited to be offering truly unlimited plans with unbeatable value.” “There has never been a better time, or better reason for Canadians to switch their wireless provider.”

The wireless carrier also notes that Canadians considering a move to its services will benefit not only from the first month for free, but also from an extended $150 porting credit. The company extended the porting credit following a study last week that showed it is the top carrier to which users would switch. WIND's 15 percent score was the highest among all carriers in the country.

“Even before we launched we have been asking Canadians what they want in a wireless company and we are building our business everyday with that feedback. This offer is exactly what our customers have been asking for and is a great example of the power of conversation in action,” Lacavera commented. WIND Mobile’s services arrived in Ottawa after being launched in Toronto and Calgary in December, and are set to land in Vancouver in spring.

WIND Mobile offers a wide range of features to users, including unlimited WIND to WIND calling across the country, unlimited province-wide calling from a WIND Home Zone, no activation fees, no system access fees, no charge for an incoming text or incoming long distance calls, not to mention that caller ID, missed call alerts, call waiting, call hold, call forwarding, unlimited conference calling are included in all plans at no cost.

“Canadians were very clear when they told us what they wanted when it comes to wireless – they want value, honesty and simplicity,” said Ken Campbell, CEO of WIND Mobile. “They don’t want to be tied in with contracts. They are tired of high prices, poor service and complicated billing. They don’t want to see ‘made up’ fees for system access and 911. We’re pleased to say to Canadians – we’ve heard you!” Additional details on the carrier's offering can be found on its website.
