Western Digital, the famous hard drives manufacturer has just announced the release of a new version of WD Photos for Android devices.

WD Photos is a photo viewer application, which allows Android users to remotely access content stored on My Book Live network drive from their mobile phones.

The new iteration of the WD Photos adds support for WD TV Live Hub media center from an Android compatible smartphone or tablet.

Basically, users will be able to create content with their Android device and send it directly to anyone with a WD TV Live Hub media center so they can view it on larger screens.

The WD TV Live Hub media center already lets users store and play 1 TB of their personal videos, photos and music plus enjoy the best of Internet services including Netflix, YouTube, Pandora and Facebook, all without a computer,” said Dale Pistilli, vice president of WD branded products.

In addition, WD Photos allows consumers to remotely access content stored on their WD TV Live Hub media center.

Other highlights of the application include:

- Pinch and zoom functionality so consumers can digitally zoom in on the displayed photo; - Instantly post photos to Facebook; - Create a slide show with transitions to create digital art; - Access previously viewed photos even when the user is offline; - View photos all at once or filter them by folder or album; - Enables users to view their pictures on their Android tablet; - Up to four smartphones or tablets users can access their WD TV Live Hub media center.

WD Photos for Android is available as a free download via Android Market. The application is compatible with all smartphones and tablets running Android 2.1 or newer.

However, users must own a WD TV Live Hub media center and register with Western Digital's access service to use the application.
