BioWare has kicked off a special poll on its Facebook page, asking fans to choose how the official female Commander Shepard will look like, offering six different designs that await the votes of the legions of Mass Effect fans.

Mass Effect 3 is set to end the trilogy that focuses on Commander Shepard, placing the hero, or heroine, depending on your choice, against the monstrous threat of the Reapers, a race of sentient space ships that want to destroy the whole universe.

In order to go out with a bang, BioWare, the developer of the game, has decided to officially endorse a female version of Commander Shepard, not just the male one which has graced all marketing and promotional efforts since the start of the franchise.

We recently heard that the Collector's Edition of Mass Effect 3 will feature not only the regular male Shepard but also an official female one, who is also going to be showcased in a proper cinematic trailer closer to the game's release.

As you can imagine, this sparked a lot of debate, as BioWare needed to settle on an official design of the female Commander Shepard.

The studio has now come up with six different designs and it is asking fans on Facebook which version they like most. Facebook users will have to "Like" the version they prefer, and the winning one is set to become the official female Commander Shepard, and will be featured on promotional objects and in videos, alongside the more famous male Shepard.

While all the designs look pretty good, many fans are asking BioWare to endorse the default female Shepard appearance, which isn't even among the available choices.

Currently, female Shepard number 5, pictured above, is leading the way, with almost 17,000 likes, followed by number 3, with almost 8,000 likes.

If you want to vote as well, head on over to the official Mass Effect Facebook page and make your voice heard.
