Starting September

Vodafone announced that, starting the 1st of September, it would be offering a new pay as you talk (PAYT) price plan called Text Unlimited and targeted towards UK users who can't live without sending lots of SMS messages everyday.

The new price plan can be chosen for free by Vodafone's new and existing pay as you talk customers. The deal goes like this: the V carrier is offering “texting rewards” for all those who top up their monthly plan. More exactly:

- top up 5 GBP and Vodafone offers you unlimited SMS messages weekday evenings, for the upcoming month;

- top up 10 GBP and get unlimited messages for both weekday and weekend evenings;

- top up 30 GBP or more and enjoy a full month of unlimited messages, be it day or night.

“Vodafone is the first and only UK mobile network to let pay as you talk customers send free unlimited texts when they TopUp from just £5 per month,” stated Ian Shepherd, consumer director for Vodafone UK. “And with a new simple flat rate of 20p for calls, we continue to offer outstanding value.”

In addition to the new unlimited text offering, Vodafone UK will release two new color versions of Sony Ericsson K770i Cyber-shot, called “Star Heaven Silver” and “Touch of Pink” – we've heard about them last week, when the Serene Black and Natural Brown colors were also unveiled.

Now, the K770 is not really the newest phone in town, as it's available since 2007, but it's still a petty nice device. Its features include a 3.2 Megapixel camera with auto focus, flash and video recording, GSM and HSDPA connectivity, a (kind of small) 1.9 inch TFT display with 256K colors and 240 x 320 pixels, Music player with TrackID, FM radio with RDS, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, NetFront browser, email and a 256 MB Memory Stick Micro card.

No word yet on how much the pink and silver Sony Ericsson K770i handsets will cost, but a high price is almost surely out of the question. September 1 should clear everything up anyway.
