Vodafone Germany has been awarded in the category of "Best Mobile Service" for its innovative "Vodafone-MeinPC" service, by the "GSM Association Global Mobile Awards 2007". "MeinPC" enables mobile access to the home PC with a 3G mobile phone. It seems to be Vodafone's answer to the merging worlds of mobile communications and internet.

The winning features of "Vodafone-MeinPC" that persuaded the jury to present the award to Vodafone include mobile access to data on the home PC with a 3G mobile phone, as well as listening to music, looking at photos or showing them to friends and using a TV card to watch mobile TV on the phone display.

"It's an impressive service that enables low-cost access to content via an internet connection," explained Rob Conway, CEO of the GSM Association and member of the "GSM Association Award 2007" jury. "If you want to be successful in the global mobile communications market, you have to be able to unite innovation, competence and quality. And it's also essential to know what the customer really needs. GSMA congratulates Vodafone Germany on its success."

Friedrich Joussen, Vodafone Germany's CEO, said: "The award is proof to us that Vodafone Germany is an innovative force to be reckoned with. I'm delighted that Vodafone has now received its third 'Mobile Communications Oscar'. We believe this is confirmation that we are a first mover in the German telecommunications market."

The innovative service was developed at the company's own "FutureProductsUnit" in Dusseldorf. "Vodafone-MeinPC" was tested in the German market first, and there are plans to launch it in other countries. It has been part of Vodafone's comprehensive AtHome broadband product family since October 2006.

"Vodafone-MeinPC" and the other products in the At Home range will be on show in the Vodafone pavilion at CeBIT between 15 and 23 March 2007.
