Clothes are for her more like a way to communicate one's thoughts

In a recent interview published by NZ Herald, the well-known fashion creator, also notorious for her extravagant public appearances and statements, revealed some of her opinions on topics such as the Audacity of being true to yourself, the different ways someone's personal style gets into the spotlight, the honesty and boldness necessary in life. She has also reaffirmed her repulsion for denim and the way people tend to use it as a “uniform” when being afraid to take a step ahead and bring some personality to their looks.

There's no doubt about the fact that Vivienne's lifetime credo is “Think outside the box,” and her “Active Resistance to Propaganda Manifesto” should come as a surprise to nobody. The advice that she commonly gives is “Resist the propaganda of global advertising.” In other words, take the time to think for yourself, meditate on what you see or read, and don't be afraid to say what you think whenever you feel appropriate.

The easiest way to do that is, in her eyes, to choose the right clothes, ones that would represent you and speak for you when you prefer to keep quiet. “The majority of people on the street look quite dreadful - not because they make mistakes, but because they don't even try. They are lazy in their dress and take no time to express themselves through what they wear,” she says. People wearing jeans are looked upon too, as Miss Westwood believes that their true “inner” color is quite grayish - “They would prefer not to say anything in their clothes than to make a mistake.”

Another interesting idea is the one assessing that the clothes you're wearing not only say who you are, but choose your entourage, too. If you're an open-minded, daring person, not afraid to show who you are to the world through your clothes, then you'll attract similar people, while staying away from those who do not adhere to the principle.
