Even if the latest news on Tom Ford is surprising, sometimes contradictory, the exquisite taste in fashion of the reputed designer and film director would never fade away. Tom Ford remains one of the few true experts on the planet to speak about suits, jackets, patterns, simplicity, and about the comfort of enjoying being yourselves.

His first rule of fashion stays true to his lifetime credo - "Classic simplicity always works". Apparently, the talented creator is a huge fan of classic (and classy) cuts when it comes to men's suits. The tailoring must enhance one's genuine qualities, and the best suit should discretely accentuate men's genuine wider shoulders, while the waist should also be perfectly marked, not too tight, yet not too wide.

The newest tendency in men's fashion, wearing those short suit jackets, is blamed as being one of the most uninspired catwalk no-no's he's been seeing lately. In his eyes, the idea of fanciness has been best illustrated by fashion and movie icons like Cary Grant, whose discrete jewelry tastes got Tom's full appreciation. "Small and simple" bracelets are the only accessories he likes, even if the current trends state otherwise.

Saying things like "When mixing patterns, don’t think about it too much - just throw it together," no doubt he's thinking about somebody’s inborn ability of feeling comfortably natural wearing their clothes. Someone looks at their best only if the outfit is some sort of second "skin," perfectly matching the wearer.

"Time and silence are the most luxurious things today," he says, and the question one could immediately ask is whether the designer indulges himself every now and then in such pleasures, or whether they're more like an unattainable dream.
