Wireless carrier Virgin Mobile, a subsidiary of Sprint, has just announced that it put in place new pricing for its no contract plans for its customers, so as to meet the increasing demand for data consumption while on the go, namely the Beyond Talk plans.

The new offering was tailored to fit the needs of users who consume an increased amount of data while on the go, by offering them unlimited data each month on a pay-as-you-go basis for less than they had to pay before.

The wireless carrier notes that it made the change due to the fact that more and more users chose to purchase a smartphone, and that they are constantly in need of Internet access to take advantage of what these devices have to offer.

Starting with July 20th, Virgin Mobile will make a series of changes to the pricing of its Beyond Talk plans, while moving from feature phones to a more smartphone-focused lineup.

The new Virgin Mobile plans will provide users with access to unlimited data, text and voice for only $55 per month, which is less than what they had to pay before, all without having to commit to a lengthy contract agreement.

“New Virgin Mobile plans lower the monthly price of unlimited data, text and voice to only $55 and offer the still unbeatable value of unlimited data and 300 voice minutes at $35 per month on smartphones without a contract,” the carrier announced.

As of July 20th, the carrier will offer a $35 plan with Unlimited data, 300 minutes, and free Blackberry bolt-on, a $45 plan with Unlimited data, 1200 minutes and the free Blackberry bolt-on, and the said $55 plan, with unlimited data and voice, and the free bolt-on.

Existing Beyond Talk Virgin Mobile users will be able to keep their current plan pricing as long as their accounts won't be let to expire. They are also allowed to upgrade to new devices without incurring additional costs.

The wireless carrier also explains that, while it offers unlimited data usage, it will reduce the speeds that users enjoy as soon as they reach 2.5GB of data usage per month. When the next month begins, the counter will start from zero.

Smartphone adoption has grown significantly with mobile data traffic increasing to match,” said David Trimble, vice president for Virgin Mobile USA.

“Adjusting these rates ensures that our Beyond Talk customers can continue to enjoy the best value overall in the market for Android devices with unlimited data and messaging. In fact, I challenge you to find a better monthly unlimited data plan for Android devices than the Beyond Talk at $35.

“And offering unlimited data, messaging and voice usage for only $55 – $5 per month less than the current plan – combined with our impressive smartphone line up is also a great option for customers looking for totally unlimited connectivity.”
