Shortly after introducing RIM's BlackBerry Bold 9900, Videotron added a new budget-friendly Android smartphone to its portfolio, the Alcatel One Touch 908S.

Even though the name of the phone is far from being catchy, those who never owned an Android device before might find the One Touch 908S a good deal.

Alcatel One Touch 908S is the cheapest Android smartphone offered by Videotron at only $29.95 (22 EUR), but customers who prefer the brand before the price can go for the Samsung Galaxy mini, which is now available for $49.95 (36 EUR).

Unfortunately, the One Touch 908S comes with Android 2.2 Froyo on board, which is not quite the newest version of the operating system available on the market.

Customers who decided to go for Alcatel's smartphone will be provided with access to more than 250,000 apps via Android Market, which will help them customize their phone.

There's no information on the smartphone's processor, but it is likely that the One Touch 908S is powered by a low-performance 600 MHz.

Design-wise, Alcatel One Touch 908S is compact and lightweight, and can slide easily in any pocket. The phone measures 110 x 57.4 x 12.4 mm and weighs 120g (battery included).

It looks like the way that Alcatel presents its phone is a bit overrated: “Ever-so-elegant and compact, the ONE TOUCH 908S makes use of the ultra high-performance Android 2.2 platform. Browsing is fast and intuitive on its 2.8-inch capacitive touchscreen, and a range of apps comes pre-installed to make life even easier.“

On the inside, the phone packs 150 MB of internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

In addition, the entry-level device comes with a 2.8-inch capacitive touchscreen with 240 x 320 pixels resolution, as well as a 2-megapixel camera with video recording capabilities on the back.
