Sounth Korean mobile phone maker Samsung announced the Omnia II i8000 not too long ago, yet it seems that some carriers have already rushed to have the device on their offering, and one of them is expected to be Verizon Wireless. According to the news around the Internet, the carrier might add the Omnia II to its lineup as soon as July, and it appears that the phone comes to the US in white.

As phone Arena indicates, the Windows Mobile handset was already expected to hit Verizon's airwaves, only that details on a possible launch time frame were missing. For what it's worth, in case the operator launches the Omnia II in July, its users will have the opportunity to enjoy one of the most powerful devices running under the Microsoft mobile platform.

On the other hand, there are great chances that Big Red will wait a little longer before launching the handset, as the previous Omnia model was released only about seven months ago, and it might consider the new one to come too early. The first-generation Samsung Omnia can be purchased from the carrier for $200 upon the signing of a contract agreement.

As for what the second Samsung Omnia can offer to users, we can count a 3.7-inch WVGA AMOLED touchscreen display that boasts a 480 x 800 pixel resolution, the company's TouchWiz 2.0 user interface, a 5-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus, dual power LED flash and video recording capabilities, GPS receiver, a 3.5mm headset jack, Wi-Fi connectivity, as well as about 48GB of total storage space.

While running under Windows Mobile 6.1, the handset is also eligible for upgrade to the next iteration of the operating system, WM 6.5. Hopefully, the wireless carrier will launch the phone next month, and WinMo enthusiasts will have reason to rejoice. Stay tuned to learn more details as soon as they surface.
