Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless has yet to announce the release of a mobile phone powered by Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 operating system, but that might happen in the near future, if some of the latest reports on the matter are to be believed. The said handset would be none other than the HTC Trophy, long rumored to be on its way to the wireless carrier, but nowhere to be seen as of yet.

While the release date for this device remains a mystery, we can now have a look at some photos with it, which have just made an appearance over at Pocketnow.

This would be the very same HTC Trophy 7 smartphone that went official in October last year, and which is already available for purchase in various markets around the world, save for some minor hardware changes that HTC might have operated on it.

One of these would involve the swiping of radios from GSM to CDMA, so as to make the handset fit for Verizon's 3G network, but other details on this are not available for the time being.

Hopefully, more would become available in the not too far future, especially when considering that some of the latest rumors suggested that the phone might be released as soon as next week.

Based on the load of previous rumors we've hear on Verizon's plans for the release of HTC Trophy, we'll take this with a grain of salt, but we'll keep our fingers crossed for it to pan out.

However, it remains to be seen whether May 12th would be the launch date or the actual shipping date for the new device.

With Sprint already selling a Windows Phone 7 device, and AT&T and T-Mobile having their own such devices since November last year, Verizon remains far behind on this one. Stay tuned to learn more on the matter.
