Back in November 2013 Verizon launched its own tablet, which it has dubbed the Ellipsis 7. The slate is selling for an affordable price if you’re willing to jump on board with a two-year contract with big red.
Just three months after launching it, Verizon is pushing a relatively minor over-the-air (OTA) update to all its 4G Ellipsis slates in the United States. Before getting excited, we should tell you this is not the Android 4.4 KitKat update and it won’t bring any major modifications.
However, the new build will arrive equipped with a bunch of enhancements, upgrades and bug fixes which users will certainly find useful.
For example, big red now offers Ellipsis users a choice between storing their applications and files on an external microSD card or on the standard 16GB of internal storage.
The full list of the improvements you should expect to see with software version MV&A_31D26_422 is as follows:
• Verizon 4G LTE data connectivity • Mobile Hotspot User Experience and Connectivity • Wireless connectivity • Image quality when using the camera • Battery life • SIM Card Activation experience improvements • Added support for Prepaid Plans • Added feature to allow editing of the APN name for Private IP • Option to configure camera to store photos and videos on an external SD card that can be purchased separately. • Added option for end users to move all applications to tablet space manually except for the preloaded apps. • Improved the UI notification for low memory conditions
If the update hasn't arrived on the your Ellipsis 7 just yet (updates tend to be pushed gradually), you can try out your luck by heading to Setting\About Device\Check for Updates to perform a manual scan for the update.
Or you could just wait until you received an automatic notification informing you the update has arrived and it’s ready to be installed on your device.
