14 DAY TRIAL // iPhone 4. Verizon. It begins. The iPhone 4 is now available for pre-order at Verizon Wireless, putting an end to the long exclusivity period that wireless carrier AT&T has had for the distribution of this device on the United States market. Starting today, all Verizon customers interested in the acquisition of this handset can head to the special page the carrier put in place for the on its website and place a pre-order.
Available exclusively for existing customers, the pre-order period would end on February 10th, when the handset will become generally available for purchase on the wireless carrier's website, in its stores, and through Apple's online portal and retail locations.
Today, however, just as promised, Verizon is opening the iPhone 4 bag for its customers, and it seems that Apple is giving a hand as well, as the company also put the device on its website.
Two iPhone 4 models will be made available for purchase with CDMA connectivity on Verizon's network, differentiated by the internal memory space: a 16GB and a 32GB flavor.
“Existing Verizon customers, pre-order now. All other customers can order starting February 9,” Apple notes on its website, adding that all orders should ship to end-users by February 10th.
As for the price tag at which the iPhone 4 is made available at Verizon, nothing is changed from our previous reports: the 16GB model would retail for $199, while the 32GB sports a cost of $299. Both of them require the signing of a two-year contract agreement with the carrier.
We should note that some of the latest reports on the matter point at the fact that the pre-order page for the Verizon iPhone 4 was taking some time to load at first, most probably due to the large number of users trying to access it.
Those US residents who are not Verizon Wireless customers would have to wait until the 10th of the month before being able to purchase the iPhone 4 on this carrier's airwaves. However, that is only one week from now, so their wait won't be too long.
